You will find Lot & Daan located at the Geldeseplein, near Rotterdam's Markthal (just behind the Citizen M hotel). You are welcomed by a cute little terrace, weather allowing. Stepping in, there is an instantly relaxing vibe: the interior is light, your eyes are drawn to the amazing street art-inspired mural, there are cosy couches to settle into, sit high or low -- you’ll be comfortable, I assure you. It is a great place to meet up with friends, have a meeting or just treat yourself. The staff greets you with a big smile and makes you feel right at home.
The food, ah the food... Lot & Daan is conscious of the healthy lifestyle most of us aspire to and have a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes. One of my favourites is the all-day breakfast pancakes served with a red fruit and berry compote, freshly sliced fruit and grated coconut. The best part is the shaving of white chocolate and a few chocolate mini buttons sprinkled around -- not enough to make it unhealthy, but just enough to make it an indulgent treat. The pumpkin bread is really delicious and clearly home-baked, the sweet potato spread on toast with feta, parsley and walnuts is the perfect mix between sweet and savoury and the tosti Mexico? I will admit to the eyebrow raise: grilled cheese with nachos, really? Do it, don’t question Lot & Daan, they know what they are doing.
