Man met Bril coffee is situated under the concrete arches of the Hofbogen, a monumental railway viaduct that nowadays houses a lot of creative enterprises.
Man met Bril (man with glasses) likes to wake up early. On weekdays you can already order your breakfast at 7 o’clock; fresh orange juice, plus coffee or tea, plus avocado with egg, plus croissant with jam. Insider tip for early birds: breakfast is at the evil price of 6,66€ if you order before 10 am. And it’s totally worth the effort!
The personnel are genuinely passionate about the quality of good coffee, as they not only have their own roaster facilities, but they also sell it to a bunch of other coffee places in Rotterdam. The origin of the coffee beans changes frequently, and the variety is always indicated on a small card on the plate of the coffee cup. And if you want to become a great barista like them, you might want to sign up for one of their workshops!
At Man met Bril I often come with my laptop, as there are several spots where I can plug it in, the internet is really fast and the place is often quiet on weekdays. What most likely happens though is that I bump into friends who are also coffee fanatics and loyal customers and my motivation for work drops down. Unlike my appetite for “another cappuccino, please!”
