Step into the bustling world of Station Bergweg, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Rotterdam's Hofbogen project. This old train station, with roots dating back to 1908, has been reimagined into a vibrant food hall concept, offering a delightful fusion of flavors and experiences.
My journey to Station Bergweg began with a search for my favorite patissier, Le PetitJean, which led me to this dynamic spot. Here, Sundays come alive with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and delectable pastries, drawing locals to enjoy lazy afternoons filled with people bringing board games and enjoying hangover cures.
But the magic of Station Bergweg doesn't end with Sundays. Fridays usher in a lively atmosphere as friends gather for the quintessential Dutch tradition of "VrijMiBo" (Friday drinks). With a diverse array of food options, including the tempting Pinxos from Bar Bilbao, the irresistible fries from Stooges, and the refreshing beer from Eurobrouwers, there's always something new to savor.
Close to Station Bergweg, you will find two of my other favourite spots, Coppi and Man with Bril, beneath the old rail tracks.
