Famous for being the place to go if you’ve had a little too much celebrating the night before, the Eagle Café is the place to be. I can’t argue with that.
Besides being a great place for breakfast or lunch, did you know it’s a historic waterfront café where all the seats have a view? Yep. Every. Single. Seat. In addition, it’s always been frequented by veterans and military personnel since it opened in 1928. When you walk into the restaurant, one of the first things you see is hats from various military folks that are proud to have been part of the history of the Eagle Café.
Their breakfast menu is fantastic! I’m talking Huevos Rancheros or Crab Benedict, and you can get a little bit of the “hair of the dog” as well, if you like, an Eagle Bloody Mary or a Blood Orange Mimosa. They also have a non-alcoholic drink called the Blackberry Press. So yummy and refreshing.
And not surprisingly, it’s known for having the best clam chowder in the whole city. All of San Francisco. That’s quite a claim. And not for nothing, because it is. I’ve eaten a lot of clam chowder in my life, and this one truly is the best. Ever. Go. Try it. You’ll be glad you did.
