Comfort food makes you think of the best of your childhood, home and family. Growing up in San Francisco means that comfort food is as diverse as the City. Chow fun, piroshki, eggroll and baklava all bring back delicious memories for me.
I walked past Cinderella often and didn't consider going in. Finding good piroshki without meat seemed impossible. Thanks to Cinderella Russian Cafe and Bakery, I can now have one of my favourite comfort foods any time I want.
The desserts are so tempting. I've tried some of the cookies. I can't pick a favourite. The poppyseed roll is very popular. Pelmeni, Pirogi and other authentic Russian dishes are available.
The bakery is tiny with a large glass counter full of delicious choices. Snacks on the left, desserts on the right. The large striped awning over the outdoor seating is perfect cover for foggy or rainy days. The staff is friendly. There are loaves of fresh baked breads available too!
The space is often crowded with locals and students from the University of San Francisco. It's a perfect stop for a snack and conversation. The new parkette gives more seating options to dine, but less parking for cars. It's especially good on a cold day.
