A small chalkboard sign is what drew me into Café Con Todo when they first opened in the beginning of summer 2018, advertising Slate Coffee, beer & wine and organic waffles. Waffles! How could I say no.
Located in Fremont, when you walk in the front door you're immediately transported somewhere warmer than Seattle's semi-permanent gray. Hammocks are the main form of seating and giant live plants dot the gleaming wooden floors. The café is an extension of the appropriately named "Salsa Con Todo," a salsa dance studio, and some evenings the tables and chairs are pushed aside for an evening of dancing and revelry.
But as a neighborhood coffee spot the ambiance is perfect. I’ll go before work for a strong americano or a golden milk latte, or during my lunch break for the waffles or their avocado plate: a whole avocado, sliced down the middle, stuffed with tzatziki sauce and pine nuts.
The baristas are always happy to introduce new menu items, or offer a sample of cookies or pastries. Definitely swing by on a rainy day for an escape & a treat!
