A friend of mine introduced me to this tiny Thai place. It's truly a hole in the wall, there are probably 20 seats in the whole place with patrons squeezed elbow to elbow savoring some dynamite Thai. Service is quick and unlike most divey establishments, clean. There's always a small line out the door, waiting for some of their amazing green curry, spicy noodles or Thai fried rice. The wait is never long but it is a good idea to take a look at the menu beforehand and know what you want to order. They like to keep things speedy.
The tight quarters, high energy and of course the savory eats make this my go to spot for Thai. I like sitting at the bar where you can watch the chef whip up your dish in less than a minute. My current favorites are the basil chicken and green curry. You really can't go wrong with any of the options and with portions a bit on the smaller side there is a chance to savor a couple dishes. They also do take out if you're not feeling like squeezing in at the bar.
When you are on the Ave. don't be mislead by the larger Asian restaurants surrounding Thai Tom, you'll know you are at the right spot when you find the group lingering outside this tiny establishment. If you're craving Thai and need a solid fix on the fly this is your place and don't forget to bring cash!
