Speakeasy – Cocktails with a Macedonian twist

The name “Speakeasy” is a reference for an establishment that illegally sells alcoholic beverages, during the Prohibition era in the United States. Speakeasies largely disappeared after Prohibition was ended in 1933, and the term is now used to describe some retro style bars.

Of course, we don’t have any prohibitions regarding selling alcohol nowadays (we probably should have because we drink waaay too much), so the term is used to describe this new retro bar, which you’ll find in a 19th century building right next to the fountain in the Central Park. The location suits it well, as the old interior really depicts the name.

The great thing about the place is that they make their own cocktails, combining and mixing authentic Macedonian tastes with already well known beverages like vodka, gin etc. Make sure you try one. Most of them would be with sweet-soury tastes, and may be very well liked by the ladies, but you can also find some manly drinks too, like whiskey, straight, no ice. Or beer :).

Enjoy the drinks, enjoy the music, enjoy the beautiful people in the place, and squander the night.
