Organic, bio, ecological, whatever you want to call it, the trend is obvious all over the world. People (middle class, that is) are trying to eat (and live in general) healthier as well as protect the environment and local producers. Funny thing, that the produce that we call organic nowadays is basically what my grandma used to produce in her yard twenty years ago.
Yet, I also often buy some organic products, although I try to not to become victim of all the marketing tricks of the 'bio' industry. If you want to shop for such products, one of the best places in Sofia is Zoya shop. One of their shops is right near my office in the very centre of the city.
They have a great variety of the so-called 'super foods', other food additives, nuts, cereals, even a big selection of organic cosmetics. Even if you don't plan to do your regular weekly shopping here, you must stop by to try one of their fresh desserts or order a delicious smoothie that they will prepare for you right away.
Zoya has an internet shop as well, that is available in English.
