I love to share places that not many people would discover on their own, or walk by them by chance. Aleks Y Filip is one of those places. Recently opened in a newly built high rise, hidden behind housing from the 70s, this modern Spanish restaurant is a must-visit. The decor is elegant but casual, it has a very homely feel to it and yet a bit luxurious.
Run by two brothers, hence the name, who are very passionate about food and wine. Especially from Spain, as their roots are Spanish. It is so nice to watch them talk about their food and wines as they are eager to share all their knowledge with their customers. After a description of the menu, you want to eat and drink it all. The first time I was here we took some nice tapas style dishes to share because that is what you need to take in a Spanish restaurant, the Gambas Rojas were so tasty we had to get a second serving.
The cold cuts and grilled bread with payoyo cheese are also a big hit! If you like lamb chops you are in for a treat. Grilled to perfection and seasoned well, it is very flavourful, and the meat is so tender it falls off the bone. I can also recommend the pluma, very tender and nice. Make a reservation beforehand if you plan to visit on Friday or Saturday.
