I love it when talented owners of bars and restaurants find the time to open new venues. A great example of this is Bistro Bananas on Skånegatan. The owners of this vibrant place are also in charge of two of my other favorite places on Södermalm: Babylon and the bar Indigo.
Bananas opened in spring 2015 and serves rustic and homey Italian styled food. They have a genuine open-hearth pizza oven and oh-my-gah are the pizzas amazing! If you're not a pizza-person, they have other dishes, where a cool mix of local fresh produce is combined with different cuts of meat. And don't get me started on the dessert menu. They also serve gluten free alternatives!
The dining room is arranged around the big circular bar, where the (almost) all female staff will mix you an awesome drink, serve you a nice glass of bubbly or maybe recommend a nice local beer. This spot is a perfect place for a hangout when your feet are tired from exploring Södermalm. They don't take reservations, but the great staff will surely try their utmost to find you a table.
Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor, visit Bistro Bananas!
