I am a big fan of being close to the water and have taken many different boat tours over the years. If one wants to stay in the city, my No 1 favourite is this one, which circles Stockholm's second largest island — Kungsholmen. The tour starts at the City hall and will show you some of the nicest places in the city in just 55 minutes. A lot of the tour goes through narrow stretches and very green areas, but you will also see a variety of impressive architecture. If you are lucky, you might spot birds and other wildlife up close.

If you start at the Central station, you can walk to the City hall in minutes, and a pro tip is to get a Stockholm Pass (from 899 SEK per adult for one day passes) to have public transport included in addition to this trip as well as free entrance to many other popular attractions.
