Sometimes you just crave a good old pub, where you can get a heart-warming serving of mash and gravy, and maybe, if you're feeling frisky, try a new pale ale to widen your tasting horizon. Look no further, Tre vänner in Midsommarkransen is the place to head to. I discovered Tre vänner about 6 years ago, while being a newly moved in ex-student in Midsommarkransen and looking for a place to eat a solid good meal that wouldn't ruin me financially. And as if my fairy godmother had waved her wand, just by the subway was Tre vänner. I've been a regular at the place ever since.
The name directly translates to "Three friends" and this really rings true to the atmosphere you walk into. By the big bar locals of all ages sit, bickering about last night's soccer game, in the corner you'll find an elderly gentleman in a hat solving the Sunday crossword and at the neighboring table, a family of four laughing over burgers and pints (the kids are of course having soda!).
I'll be honest with you, this really is a regular pub. No fancy-schmancy tasting menus or organic wine lists from a forgotten area of Bordeaux. BUT this is a really great regular pub. The food is fairly priced and very tasty. You'll find a good range of beers and ciders and the staff is friendly and service-minded. My favorite dish is the spicy seafood pasta, accompanied with a cold bottle of Strongbow.
