Hotel Viru & KGB Museum is located in the iconic Hotel Viru and offers a fascinating glimpse into Estonia’s Soviet past. Hidden on the 23rd floor, which was off-limits to guests at the time, the KGB had surveillance equipment installed to monitor foreigners and notable visitors.
The tour of the KGB Museum is both informative and eerie. Walking through the preserved rooms and seeing the original surveillance technology gives you a real sense of the paranoia and control that defined the Soviet era.
The guides are knowledgeable and share fascinating stories about the espionage tactics used, making the experience even more interesting.
My favorite highlight of the tour is the panoramic view from the museum floor, which offers a stunning perspective of Tallinn Old Town.
