Every couple of years a colorful art exhibition is shown in the streets of the city. We've had lions, penguins and a King's throne (don't ask me why...) in every corner of the streets. After a break of a few years, the organizer and Tel Aviv municipality, in my opinion, outdid themselves and gave blank benches to architects, public opinion leaders and artists to paint them. Some wrote lyrics from songs and transformed the benches to cool modern (and usable!) art.
Before the benches are sold in an auction (all proceeds from the sale will be used to help children at risk) and removed from the streets to private homes or public buildings, the benches decorating mostly Rothschild bul., Tel Aviv port, Rabin Square and others are there for the resident's enjoyment and yours.
In 2014 the organizer even held a competition for young designers and 3 of them won the right to show their bench in the city. So if you see a crazy bench, it's your lucky day!
