As a rookie vegan, one of the things I miss most is junk food. Tel Aviv is a paradise for vegans, but it's hard to find greasy food that you can eat with your hands. That's why I was so happy when I heard about Goodness – the very first vegan diner. Is that even possible to make? I had to find out.
As soon as you come in you get the diner vibes: long sofa benches, menu written on the wall, American pop music, and of course a traditional counter. Suddenly you're not in Tel Aviv anymore, but in a small town on the side of the road somewhere in the mid-west.
Goodness took up a very difficult challenge, and they did it, big time: the sloppy Joe is delicious and juicy like the real thing; the cheeseburger is one of the best in town; they even have "dip and chips" if you miss fish and chips. All this comes in cones and plastic buckets, to get the full diner experience. By that time we were pretty full but couldn't skip dessert: don't miss the "chocolate galaxy"!
It's located just next to Dizingoff center mall, which makes it the perfect place to go after a long day at the beach or a shopping spree. Take your non-vegan friends and show them that vegan food is not just salad!
