Park Mesila – Follow the train tracks

While 2020 was very restrictive for Tel Avivians to leave the house, the city surprised us with a new park between the Neve Tzedek and Florentin/Levinsky Neighbourhoods. This park is where the old Ottoman railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem once had been. They restored some of the old tracks, that you can see while you are walking along. For now only the part from Pines Street to the Old train station (Hatachana) is open – from where you can enter the park –  but it is planned to be all the way from Hertzl Street to the beach. For a break there are many benches and grass to sit down and even a little kiosk called Rogers Park that sells excellent coffee and tasty savoury and sweet snacks. I am a fan of the vegan banana chocolate cake – definitely also for non-vegans! So come with your bike, dog, kids or friends and blend in with other Tel Avivians!
