To be honest, I love some street art. Not fancy stores selling paintings or handmade work, just the art and the artist.
I am all about supporting artists that just grab their materials and go out doing what they love in hopes of making any little profit. Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against artist who made it big, I just think the smaller ones deserve some support too.
In the streets of Tirana, so far I have found three painters showing their work to everybody passing by. They sit in their comfortable silence, undisturbed, putting their thoughts on the canvas. It gives me such a warm feeling to see them being free to do what they love the most, expressing themselves through art, through color combinations.
Now imagine boring building walls decorated with all these beautiful paintings, how nice it looks.
Depending on the artist, you can even leave them your photo or sit there for some time and get your portrait done. If you decide to invest in a painting, or if you just decide to support artist willing to grow, I suggest you consider the work of these painters who make the corners of the city look like pieces of art. The three ones I have found are located near Pedonale (the one in the picture), near Edith Durham elementary school and in front of La voglia.
