AAA is a casual “everyone is welcome” dive bar serving excellent Texas-style BBQ just east of Toronto’s financial district.
Being primarily a bar, you have to ask if you want to see the food menu which is scrawled with pen on paper – seemingly like an afterthought. The food menu consists of a handful of items such as pulled pork, brisket, chicken and waffles, mac & cheese etc. Being a bar, you may not expect the food to be top-notch but that is precisely why AAA is one of my favourite bars – the food is delicious and it is most definitely not an afterthought. I am not a Texas BBQ connoisseur so cannot speak to the authenticity of the food at AAA, but I know yummy food when I taste it, and this is yummy. Oh, and for any spice lovers out there, be sure to ask for their assortment of hot sauces – you will not be disappointed.
The bar itself is dark and a bit grungy with lots of beer and bourbon options. This is not the place to order a fancy-shmancy cocktail or to be wowed by the wine list – but why would you be looking for those at a dive bar anyways?
While this is their first location, AAA has quickly expanded and now has two more locations in Leslieville – 1276 Queen St. E. and 598 Gerrard St. E. which is called AAA Pub and has a larger food menu.
