An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? Well what about cider? The Brickworks Ciderhouse on Queen Street East is one of many new hot restaurants to open in the area. Specializing in their unique ciders - patrons can choose from a rotating list including Stadium Island Peach, Mint Basil, Peach Blueberry with Cinnamon, Tropic Thunder with tangerine and ginger, as well as their traditional Batch, 1904 Cider and Queen Street 501 Cider - a nod to the streetcar that runs through the heart of the city. With so many options, they cleverly offer a cider flight, allowing you to try four mini glasses of your choice.
With all the cider you're bound to consume, they have a pretty great menu with sharing plates such as the iron skillet baked brie and gochujang glazed wings, and for mains they have a variety of fresh salads, seared pickerel, a cider-brined pork chop, some handheld options like the fried chicken sandwich, and my personal favourite, the Brickworks Burger which has a cider-braised pork belly burger complimented with pickled cucumber and sriracha mayo. Their apple cider vinegar fries are also a must-have and great for sharing!
This restaurant has tons of seating on their two levels, and is in the process of finishing up their patio. If you can grab one of the tables near the open-front windows - they're great for people watching in the summer. This is the perfect place to grab a refreshing summer beverage that's a bit different than your average brewery.
