If you want to have a break for lunch, you should try “La Piola di Alfredo”, very close to the Mole Antonelliana and the Cinema Museum.
The “Piola” is a bistro where you can eat local homemade food and taste local wine.
Generations of students from Palazzo Nuovo (where the university for Human sciences like literature, foreign languages, philosophy is located) have been coming in this place for a healthy and cheap lunch.
During the week, from Monday to Friday, you can choose between some fresh-cooked ingredients to have just a sandwich or some pasta, while during the weekend you can try some special kind of pasta with a menu “a la carte”.
Sometimes, when I come to have a walk in the city centre during the weekend, I stop here for a dish of pasta (I recommend you the stuffed pasta) and a glass of wine.
I also recommend the appetizers: you will find a lot of traditional food here like “tomini al verde” (fresh cheese with a traditional sauce), different kinds of “toma” (tasty local cheese) or local salami.
I hope you enjoy it!
