The whole area surrounding the Rialto bridge is very crowded, both during the day and at night. There are lots of bars and restaurants and one of the most frequented is Barcollo.
This bar is the last one to close at night in Venice, drinks are served till 03:00 all week long. I discovered it when a friend of mine, who works there, got sick and asked me to cover for him.
The place is small, but it has many tables outside; during the day it's a very good spot to have lunch; first and second courses are available for good prices, over common cicheti and very good sandwiches. At aperitif time people start arriving more frequently and the spritz and beers start to flow.
Sometimes it could be hard to find free chairs, but the square outside is very wide and the building's steps offer a good alternative.
The barmen here are very capable, so by night I suggest you try the cocktails: the choice of spirits is large and refined. There is also a smoke machine to taste amazing flavoured cocktails.
Barcollo is a mix between a Venetian bacaro and an urban bar, a great medley that works well. Unique!
