If you’ve already spent a night in Venice and taken a walk around the island after 10:00 PM, you might have noticed that this city isn’t particularly about its nightlife and late-night celebrations.
That is true for the most part, many areas are active from late morning until dinner time (9:00/10:00 PM). Some others might stretch a little bit their timeline and reach midnight, offering you cocktail bars and pizza. But if you’re looking for a proper place, with city-like vibes with university students hopping from one bar to the other, playing the guitar on some overcrowded bench, where the party was never predetermined and goes on until early morning, the place to be is Campo Santa Margherita.
Located 10 minutes from Venice railway station, this piazza offers a variety of bars, caffes, restaurants and, most importantly, space. It is not easy in Venice to find broad areas where a substantial number of people can gather. Campo Santa Margherita is one of them. No discos, no DJ sets, maybe in some bars you will find music and people dancing, but the main attraction is the piazza itself.
Follow the movements of the ones who are already there, try a cocktail at Chet, another one at Do Draghi, sit on the stairs of the bridges overlooking San Patalon Church and enjoy the vibes of having tourists, locals and students all gathered in a single place.
