This osteria (tavern in English) is a must-visit place if you are in the Venice-Mestre area, on the mainland. It is a great place to drink good wine and have delicious cicchetti (tapas), the best I have ever tried in Venice.
Food is incredible, seasonal and mostly organic products, from breakfast to dinner (I have seen people there having a prosecco at 10:00 am!)
Whenever it is you pass by, you absolutely have to try the great Venetian cicchetti (my favourite are the authentic shellfish canapés filled with whitefish, mouth watering) or book a table at the restaurant and have first a selection of cicchetti, then try the first and second courses, both of fish and meat, suiting any taste and eating habit.
And the wine is always so hard to choose. Their cellar offers over a thousand labels of the most famous local and national wines, with a preferrence for organic ones.
This spot is a pure gem of a place, frequented mostly by locals who stand up outside drinking, creating a great, fun and buzzed atmosphere with a lot of action.
On the walls there are numerous pics of VIPs with autographs who have been there to eat and vintage stuff which create a warm, comfortable ambiance, accompanied by superb blues, soul and jazz music.
The owner and his staff treat you like family and are very attentive to details and all for a very fair price!
PS: Booking is recommended.
