Here comes an ode to one of my favourite cinemas in Vienna: Burgkino is among the oldest of movie theaters in town. It is easy to find and goes along greatly with a leisurely evening walk through Burggarten.
Burgkino has enchanted me from the very beginning with its decent, interior, the big red letters above the entry and its two-leveled auditorium. All movies come in OV, sometimes including English subtitles, tickets are still affordable, even on a Sunday.
Plus, Burgkino regularly shows The Third Man, one of the few better-known movies filmed completely in – and partly under – Vienna. Don’t bother getting the Anton Karas’ catchy soundtrack out of your mind for the rest of your time Vienna, you won’t succeed.
