Nepal lovers in Vienna know where to meet like-minded people. This restaurant has been around for almost 20 years, yet it is the only Nepalese eating spot in the city. The team provides its customers not just with food but also with Nepalese culture. Festivities occur now and then – find them announced on their Facebook page.

At Yak & Yeti, you can choose between a room where you sit at a table or one where you leave your shoes outside and sit on the floor, or rather some kind of platform. I recommend the latter for a unique form of dining. In summer, their courtyard oasis is a sparkling gem amidst the concrete jungle. Big groups might want to book in advance. No matter where you sit, the food is served on brazen plates, as customary in Nepal.

The best nights to enjoy authentic Nepalese-style dinner is Monday or Tuesday: come for Momo evening. This national dish is steamed dumplings with a variety of differing fillings. Another one of their traditions: ask for a refill till you are the one who’s stuffed.

Their fantastic lunch buffet, Monday through Friday from 11:30 – 14:30, is €10.50 for the bigger part vegan and usually has two meat choices. And if all this wasn’t enough already, they even present friendly customers with mini desserts.

I want to end with a wish you see when leaving: tashi deleg! “Blessings & good luck!”
