Nepal lovers in Vienna know where to meet like-minded people. This restaurant has been around for 18 years yet it is the only Nepalese eating spot in the city. The team provides its customers not just with food but also with Nepalese culture. Now and then, festivities take place – find them announced on their Facebook page.
At Yak & Yeti, you can choose between a room where you sit at a table or one where you leave your shoes outside and sit on the floor, or rather some kind of platform. I recommend the latter for a special form of dining. Big groups might want to book in advance. No matter where you sit though, the food is served on brazen plates, as customary in Nepal.
The best time to enjoy authentic Nepalese style dinner is Tuesday: come for Dal Bhat evening. This national dish consists of rice, lentils, meat, and vegetables which you casually eat with your hands. Another one of their traditions: you can ask for a refill till you are blue in the face.
On Monday and Thursday, you can enjoy Momos – Nepalese style dumplings – while on Wednesday evenings they welcome ladies with a glass of sparkling guava wine.
Their awesome lunch buffet, Monday through Friday from 11:30 – 14:30 is €7.50, for the bigger part vegan and usually has two meat choices. And if all this wasn’t enough already, they even present you with mini desserts.
I want to end with a wish you see when leaving: tashi deleg! “Blessings & good luck!”
