It's all in the name really: Bekef in Hebrew means a 'fun', 'good time' – and that is exactly what you are in for! The new Israeli-kosher (!) place in the very heart of Warsaw is just so good, a good time is just guaranteed.
Maybe the place is not the most beautiful, maybe not the most stylish, but – hey, who cares when the food is just so good?! And the people are so nice (the owner and head cook pops out of the kitchen often to say hello)! Bekef serves a mix of Mediterranean dishes: Israeli favorites and Moroccan hits. Meat dishes, fish dishes, falafel, shwarma, shakshuka, a variety of salads, vegetables, sauces. Everyday there are lunch specials – every day there are new dishes to choose from. And believe me – I am doing my best to try every single one of them.
Hands down the best Israeli food outside of Israel – everything tastes exactly the way it is supposed to: the hummus, the falafel, the tehina, the pita, the spicy vegetables...! Some of the ingredients are even flown straight from Israel to keep the flavors authentic.
Don't worry about ordering: the staff speak a mix of Polish, Hebrew and English, and I am betting a few other languages too.
Great food, in big quantities (Really! Falafel in pita the size of my head!) and at affordable prices (11 zł!). Go, eat, have a good time – no, strike that – have a great time!
