Big Book Cafe, run by the people behind one of the youngest and most innovative literary festivals under the name Big Book Festival, was opened in the Summer of 2017. They describe themselves as a "new literary venue in Warsaw. The very first literary center run by an NGO".
Big Book Cafe is a cafe with a huge offer of books, great food, sweets, teas and coffees. It's also dog-friendly and apart from its usual function as a cafe, Big Book cafe can also boast of its huge literary program.
The program includes literary stand-ups on a given topic by well-known Polish artists (in Polish), press breakfasts every Sunday on a chosen topic (for example on September 1st there was a press breakfast concentrating on the brass from September 1939), and many more literary happenings around themes such as Andrzejki (Polish Saint Andrew's Day being celebrated in a rather specific manner) and more. Check their Facebook profile for more info.
What I like most about Big Book Cafe is their friendly staff and cool literary happenings - now going all year round. In 2023 an Instagram account "Pieski z BBC" (dogs from Big Book Cafe) opened. It is a hilarious presentation of their four-legged visitors.
