Sushi and noodles

Lydia from Washington DC

About me: The tale is in the telling. I am a storyteller, an excavator, a messenger, and for many years a journalist, with a portofolio that includes words crafted for magazines, books, online, television, newspapers, corporations and podcasts. I think everyone has a story, and everything. The person who made your coffee this morning (especially if that was you), and who picked the beans, th...
""Raku""

A DC staple, Raku presents noodles and sushi in a calm, minimalist setting. The sushi menu is extensive, with a variety of options from California (avo and cucumber) to inside-out rolls, signature rolls, nigiri and sashimi. A variety of Japanese specialties are also served, but locals travel here for the noodles. Udon, soba, egg and shiritaki noodles are on offer, able to be customized with red curry coconut or dashi broth, and your choice of meat, seafood or vegetarian.

Can't decide? We ordered the bento box, which at lunch is a great deal with tastes of 5-6 menu items in separate compartments. The kitchen is fast and the food fresh and nicely priced. I used to have to travel to Dupont Circle to dine at Raku, but now there's a location at both Cathedral Commons and Bethesda Row.

I do, however, prefer “inquisitive” to “nosy". An expat kid raised in the UK & Greece, I've also lived in Vie...
