A DC staple, Raku presents noodles and sushi in a calm, minimalist setting. The sushi menu is extensive, with a variety of options from California (avo and cucumber) to inside-out rolls, signature rolls, nigiri and sashimi. A variety of Japanese specialties are also served, but locals travel here for the noodles. Udon, soba, egg and shiritaki noodles are on offer, able to be customized with red curry coconut or dashi broth, and your choice of meat, seafood or vegetarian.
Can't decide? We ordered the bento box, which at lunch is a great deal with tastes of 5-6 menu items in separate compartments. The kitchen is fast and the food fresh and nicely priced. I used to have to travel to Dupont Circle to dine at Raku, but now there's a location at both Cathedral Commons and Bethesda Row.
