Every time I speak to someone from California, they say they have the best tacos. And when I meet people from Texas, they argue the same thing. I’m not from either of those places–I’m from DC. As far as I’m concerned, the best tacos I’ve ever had anywhere are at Taco City. The fact that it’s so close to my house is dangerous for my bank account. I would eat here every day if I could.
My favorite taco to order is actually a tie between the carnitas and the chorizo. One of the things I really appreciate about Taco City is that they also have solid vegetarian options if you want to take a friend who doesn’t eat meat. The mushroom and brussel sprout tacos are really good too.
Taco City is on Barracks Row in the Eastern Market neighborhood, so it’s close to other things if you want to eat there and then go hang out elsewhere. It’s somewhat small inside, so going there with a large group (5 or more) may be somewhat difficult, but certainly doable.
If you like tacos, don’t leave DC without checking this place out.
