Hains Point is the perfect place to spend a sunny weekend afternoon. Located at the tip of East Potomac Park, it offers beautiful views of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers and the Washington Channel. Pack a picnic, invite a few friends, and spend the day enjoying yourself by the water.
There is a 4.1-mile loop around the tip of a peninsula that is very popular with bikers. So, don’t be surprised if men and women in spandex keep zooming past you as you walk around.
Hains Point is wonderful in any season, but if you’re here in the spring, you’ll be treated to rows of beautiful cherry blossoms.
If you don’t have time to visit during the day, Hains Point is also a great spot to end a day of sightseeing. Bring a blanket in the evening and watch the sun set over the river while planes take off and land at Reagan Airport in Arlington.
