Afghan Anar began as a pop-up restaurant in 2018. From the very start, it captured my heart with its unique charm and flavourful cuisine. When I discovered they had opened a permanent location, I was thrilled. One doesn't find Afghan food at every corner. Today, they’ve flourished into a thriving venture with two branches in Hottingen and at Limmatplatz, all while retaining the cosiness and originality that made them special in the first place.
The attention to detail at this restaurant is remarkable, from the thoughtfully designed interior to the illustrated menu and even the bathroom, all contributing to a sensual feel. I especially appreciate how the menu strikes a perfect balance between quality and quantity.
Mantu is the signature dish and shouldn't be missed under any circumstance. It is a delicate handmade dumpling filled with minced meat and topped with fragrant lentils. This is hearty, soul-soothing fare!
