There are bars and then are bars.
The Old Crow is most definitely the latter. Opened in 2013 by two well-known, award-winning Zurich barkeepers - one of them the former Chef de Bar of Zurich's prestigious Widder Hotel - it is as much a bar as it is a tribute to the art of mixology and spirits. Using parts of their private collection, the bar boasts more than 1600 bottles - the most expensive one weighing in at over CHF 20,000 (the 50 Year Glen Grant Distillery Edition Whiskey at CHF 1,300 for 4cl).
It’s one of the places where you wouldn’t even need a menu since the incredibly friendly and highly skilled bar personnel with near mind-reading abilities will conjure up the perfect poison best suited to your tastes. Not that you should miss perusing the beautifully curated cocktail menu with its selection of old-time classics as well as new original creations - such as the typically Swiss Downtown Switzerland, using locally sourced Kirsch schnapps.
Not in the mood for cocktails? Then just keep straight and select something from their impressive collection of spirits - but whiskey lovers beware, with over 1,000 bottles spanning from rare to find classics to unheard of limited batches you might just stay here longer than you thought.
