Come to the Jazzraum to listen to the next generation of artists from the Swiss jazz scene in a very intimate atmosphere. The jam session is open to everyone but mainly targets jazz musicians students from the art school of Zürich. This means that it is often quite good artists already that come together to play some jazz, making it very enjoyable to listen to.
The jam takes place in the Mehrspur bar, which is part of the Toni Areal complex. The bar also has a decent-sized scene on its lowest floor for concerts (check out their program for other days as well). But a smaller event such as the Tuesday jazz jam session takes place in a smaller, pretty confined space, which can’t hold/host much more than 40 people. This setting however always gives me the impression of experiencing a private concert. If you are lucky, you might even get a spot on one of the leather sofas for extra comfort.
The event starts at 8 pm with a band, made of music students, playing some of their own compositions. After a couple of songs, the floor is open to anyone else to join and jam around jazz classics. Caution, you might get transported to a journey in your imagination with the most pleasant background soundtrack.
