Don’t ask me to choose which Piola I prefer. I like them both very much and they are two very distinct places. La Piola is a lovely Italian restaurant on 2, rue de Page, where I like to go for the al dente pasta, their secluded backyard seating, or their great wine selection (and tiramisu, I confess…). La Piola Libri is a bookstore and cafe/wine bar which serves a very respectable aperitivo every night. La Piola Libri has a great wine selection by the glass, an exquisite and affordable aperol spritz, friendly Italian service, interesting books on display (with a good children’s section), a small terrace on the street, it’s within walking distance to EU institutions, there’s good music, they organise interesting events… what else do you need?
Let me tell you how I roll when it comes to the Piola(s): the Libri is great for an aperitif, especially in the summer (spriiiiitz time!), and can be a place to meet someone in a somewhat professional setting (after-work drinks, especially with its proximity to EU quarters). La Piola is lovely to visit during the colder months; comfort food, red wine, cozy interior…There is thus always an occasion to go to a Piola.
