There are two parts of this garden: the upper and the lower garden. The upper garden is on the roof of the University Library, it's 1ha and it's one of the biggest roof gardens in Europe. And one of the most interesting gardens I've ever seen. When I was there the first time I thought "this is what gardens in the future will look like".
On the roof there are many interesting plants, moon-like architecture and a beautiful view of the centre of Warsaw, of Vistula river and of Praga - the district on the other side of the river. You can also spy through the glass roof on students who are studying under your feet. A lot of benches, bridges and pergolas make this place a very interesting labyrinth - a labyrinth where culture meets nature and where tradition meets the future.
The whole University Library building is interesting. Inside you can also find an entertainment centre, Hula Kula, with a bowling alley, snooker tables and a climbing wall. There are also a few bookshops, restaurants and second-hand book and LP-record shops. Lots and lots of students sit here for entire nights during the end-of-term examinations.
