Dear,
There are, of course, many bookshops in every city. So why do I put this one on the list? Because it has a very big range of alternative books and magazines. This is because of it's historical mission beginning in the twentieth century where they wanted to provide more left leaning and alternative views in a context of decolonization, woman rights, other emancipations etc. Around the 70s, it was the only place in Antwerp that offered such enrichment at a time when a lot of this was prohibited to sell.
In addition to the amazing books you can find there, they also host book presentations: Agenda | De Groene Waterman. Those are mostly in Dutch, but not always, so for sure go and have a look. There's also an abundance of books in English.
They also have a rack with books priced very affordably (around 4€), and every now and then they switch up little books that they sell on the counter. I already took a few, the selection ranges from politics to arts and so on.
So, for those who like to read societal books and like a nice memory of the cities they visit, definitely check this out!

A classic is the pizza Calabrese with spicy salami, paprika, tomato, and mozzarella. Ask for some grilled onions on top to make it even tastier (you can thank me later).
