Another place that is not in the city center, but is very popular among locals is the Dageraadplaats. This vibrant square is filled with cafes and restaurants and has a nice playground for children including a big basketball court. My favorite time to visit is undoubtedly in the evening when the lamps spanning over the court light up and it seems like you’re looking at a night sky filled with stars.
All the cafes and restaurants of this square are worth a visit, but Humm has a special place in my heart. It’s a restaurant/cafe, that’s perfect for brunch, lunch and dinner. It serves tasty middle eastern food, that is effortlessly vegan, as any dish filled with eggplants, lentils, or hummus will make you forget about meat instantly. I also really like the decor of this restaurant: many plants, light furniture, and pastel-colored walls; even the bathroom is pretty! On sunny days you can sit outside and soak up the good energies of the Dageraadplaats while enjoying your pita with some baba ganoush or homemade hummus.
