It was the perfect July Thursday when I first discovered this nature's splendid gift to the city, and I wished it had been unwrapped to me sooner. This one's for the Sunday kids, the lovely flower crown girls, and the nature junkies. Ok, I'm sure nature junkies have gotten high on more mesmerizing tableaus than this one, but this is as good as it gets when you're living near a big city with a huge port. And I think this is what made the discovery so special to me. The lake is surrounded by these majestic trees that separate the winding path for lurking passersby. You need to go around it to find the peeking-holes between trees and bushes, just like visitors before you have done, as you can tell from the narrow side portals leading to the water.
Walking by with our bikes, we looked for a spot on the green downhill slope surrounding the lake. The people, there before us, had a welcoming demeanor and were clearly enjoying the blessing of the moment. Some even were bathing in the way-too-inviting lake. We even encountered a small cabin bar where they served beer and cold beverages - enthusiastically appreciated on a summer day.
This is the perfect place for that picnic or Sunday brunch you sometimes crave for. The view is so tranquil and you forget all about the loaded city and fast paced pavements. It's a treat for your mind, body and soul, you just gotta give in.
