If you think that "gourmet" can describe only a restaurant, it's time to reconsider. "Guarantee", a family business located in Koukaki in Athens since 1988, has managed to combine the idea of a sandwich with the best ingredients in a way that you just cannot resist.
Guarantee is a well-known place for those that want to taste the sandwich and not just... a sandwich. It's been a staple for many years and its customers describe it as the best in the town, something that I totally agree with. In its food display showcase you find a big collection of the most delicious choices from around the world and behind the showcase you'll always find a cheerful face that is ready to suggest the most suitable combination for you. My favorite is the one with prosciutto, gruyere, roasted tomatoes, onion, fried egg and red pepper pesto. All sauces are handmade and they can really tantalize your taste buds! The only "bad" thing is that it closes at 17:00 so every time I have to run to catch it.
So after a visit to the Acropolis museum or before you visit Tiki bar (check the Tiki Bar article) for an evening beer you should definitely stop by there. I can guarantee that you will have made the best choice. Bon appetite!
Tip: Do not hesitate to accompany your sandwich with a juice made of fresh fruits and vegetables which is a new entry on the menu.
