Prigkiponisia is one of my favorite pastry shops in Palaio Faliro, an Athenian seaside suburb. It is an old school pastry shop famous mainly for two specialties: the tsoureki bread & ice cream.
Tsoureki bread is a sweet, fluffy bread. It is the traditional Easter sweet, but we do eat it happily all year long. The spices that give tsoureki its unique flavor are the Chios mastiha & mahlep. Tsoureki takes a long time to preapre, as the dough needs to "rest" during the night in order to swell. At Prigkiponisia you can find one of the best tsoureki breads, made with the traditional recipe, all year long.
Prigkiponisia's ice cream is another yummy traditional story. Their "flagship" is the kaimaki & chocolate ice cream made with buffalo milk. Kaimaki ice cream owes again its unique taste to Chios mastiha. Their sorbets are made of fresh fruit and are truly delicious! I have to admit though that my personal favorite is the parfait ice cream. Let me be clear: I was never a fan of parfait, on the contrary. But here it was love at first sight. I said "ok, let's try it", and literally I can't stop eating it ever since!
When you visit Prigkiponisia, after a stroll on the Athenian riviera, don't forget to take a minute to notice the music: the owners always listen to opera!
Enjoy!

Shedia is heavily focused on sustainability and inclusivity: pets have their own menu, the menu is also offered in Braille, and the oil used is produced by the Niarchos park trees and then recycled.

Teras is full of contradictions: it is unconventionally named (teras means 'monster' in greek) in an ugly way but it is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy your drink.

Although Kalos Aeras is located on a busy road, there is no noise penetrating the leafy veranda, and stepping into the house is like time-traveling back to the 60s.

Plateia Proskopon is surely not as hip as Plateia Varnava or other spots in Pagrati but has a unique atmosphere.
