The Local Pub is a great pub in Chalandri located right in front of Anastasiou Brewery, one of the very few breweries in Athens and the only one in the north suburbs of the city.
One lovely May afternoon, a friend came over to our balcony having in his bag two black cans of beer. We all tried this beer having low expectations but once we poured this beverage into our glasses, we immediately understood that it wasn’t the case. It was Recipe 10 (Syntagi 10) by Anastasiou brewery. A hazy golden peach colour, citrus fruit scents and a bittersweet taste, all in one sip of this magnificent Double Dry Hopped IPA with 7% alcohol.
The good news is that you can go straight to the source and try all 20 different recipes of the Anastasiou brewery as well as beers from other Greek breweries at The Local Pub at Chalandri. Greece’s by far more traditional with wines, ouzo, tsipouro and drinks other than beer. However, the small new breweries like Anastasiou are doing magnificent work and if you are keen to discover more about this world The Local Pub is a must-visit.
