Ice cream lovers, look no further! After you have had a scoop at Poslastičarnica and a chat with Verko, the owner, no other ice cream will be good enough for you.
What makes this place so special? Firstly, this is the only place where you can taste ice cream made of šljivovica (plum brandy), ajvar (pepper-based condiment), prunes, white wine, dogberry and sausage from the city of Pirot (well-known Serbian delicatessen). In any event, Verko always makes me try as many flavors as I want until I am ready to make the final decision.
Their motto is “We Have No Secrets”. Thus arose the idea of an open space, both from the street window-shop, and in the interior, where you can see the main workshop which houses the machines. I love watching how the ice cream is made.
My biggest struggle is to decide between three types of ice cream: the Italian sorbet – a water-based, fat-free fruit ice cream, containing at least 35% of fruit (Verko puts 40%), a gelato – a well-known milk-based ice-cream (try walnuts or plazma — a typical Serbian biscuit) and Crema di Gelato, which is characterized by the noblest ingredient – pasteurized yolks (pistachio is a must).
Extra tip: they serve Filicori Zecchini espresso which is verified with the Espresso Italiano certificate, confirming that the quality of this coffee has not been changed for decades.
Verko says he does not want to invest a penny into the marketing or promotion on the social media — true fans will find their way.
