Stand up paddling is something that you should try at least once in your lifetime, so why not in Belgrade? Daska & Veslo offer a perfect getaway from the city jungle, just across hotel Yugoslavia. Don't worry if you are not in great shape, this sport is suitable for all ages and does not require any special physical preparation.
Before I embarked into the Danube River, instructors gave me a 10-minute lesson on how to hold a paddle and what to do in case there are some waves. The most difficult part was to stand up straight, since the starting position is on your knees -- at least until I had figured out the amplitude up to which I can swing the board.
If you are more experienced, I recommend taking one of the tours, either towards Kalemegdan, Gardoš, around Great War Island or under the 6 bridges of Belgrade.
When I don't feel like wetting my toes, Daska & Veslo is a great place for sunbathing, a weekend matinée or some special event such as a glitter party or a paddle board yoga session.
Since I usually pay a visit in the afternoon, my personal wine & dine favorite is deep-fried whitebait with a glass of rosé.
Extra tip: bring some mosquito repellent if you are planning to stay after the sunset, which I strongly recommend.
