Before opening her cake shop, Tanja was a regular at many food festivals around the city. People fell in love with classics such as Vasa's cake (walnut-based crust, chocolate-nuts-orange flavor mousse, munch mellow in between and bitter chocolate on top), but it took some time until she got the courage and opened the place in June 2018. Behind the counter, you will find either Tanja or her daughter Jovana, who is one of the best young fencers in Europe. There are no other employees; Tanja makes all cakes by herself.
This family atmosphere differentiates this cake shop from others. You can sit here for hours, get in touch with the owner, talk to people sitting at the next table and wave to the neighbors who will drop by just to say hello on their way to the farmers' market.
There are no compromises regarding the ingredients. You will be delighted with the gentle buttery flavor, no matter whether you choose a chocolate dessert or a cheesecake.
The signature dessert is krempita (cremeschnitte). It's the cake we grew up with and it takes us back to the sweetest childhood memories. Don't skip Prekmurska gibanica (Prekmurje layer pastry) or some of the raw cakes (excellent choice for vegans) if you are lucky enough to pop in on a day when it's on the menu.
