Unsurprisingly, the most interesting places come with a background story to match. For example, behind Ispeci pa Reci, a cute-as-a-button cookie shop that looks as if it has come out of a quirky, independent American movie and landed in a charmingly rugged part of Dorcol, there is a story about how when life throws you lemons, you can make a lemonade, or in this case – a soft, creamy American pie.
The (very cool) owner, Senka, used to be a copywriter in advertising. When things would get rough in the agency - you know, working till 10 PM, stress-emergency phoning from the bathroom - she would go home feeling completely washed out and then would seek therapy in baking. Somehow, when the vanilla and chocolate and whatnot goodness filled the air, she would immediately feel better. And she also discovered that she was damn good at it. So, she had a new idea she liked so much that she soon quit her job and started sharing her newly found passion with the rest of us full-time.
If you find you have trouble deciding what to pick, I’d say go with triple chocolate cookies and what might probably be the best brownies I have tasted in this part of the universe. Of course, the place is cute enough to drop by just for a coffee, but c’mon, who are we kidding- the smells of the freshly baked cookies would make that simply impossible unless you are a cyborg.
