Lift is located in Cetinjska 15, in a vast ruin that used to be a brewery, and which has become the home of many coffee places, bars and clubs in the past few years. Once you’re in the middle of the parking lot, you will see an external staircase leading to an elevator door: that’s where you should head to.
The moment I entered Lift for the first time, I realized that it was actually a true locals’ gathering place: I never fail to run into a crew playing billiards or darts with dedication, and more than a few times someone simply asks to join them.
The bar offers a wide-enough range of drinks and nothing fancy: no craft beers or numerous varieties of the same beverage, even though you can surely order a quality gin or bourbon. Lift preserves a unique bar atmosphere, where the focus is on the people and the flow. The music is not aggressive and the owners sometimes invite their DJ friends to turn up the vibe; usually it’s just some well-chosen sounds playing in the background. It is crowded on the weekends, when it is more difficult to find a spot, but is far less hectic during the week.
When the weather is nice, I sometimes drink my coffee on the sunny rooftop balcony. Finally, the relaxed atmosphere is what keeps me and my friends coming back; and the billiards, of course.
