TC Piramida (Serbian for Pyramid) is a shopping center/shop conglomeration nestled in the midst of the most brutalist of New Belgrade blocks. Built in the 90s, it is a reflection of the tumultuous times that it was built in: a bunch of small, independent no-name clothing stores, cafes, travel agencies, dry cleaners, fast food joints and Asian markets thrown about a fairly large yet walkable area.
Piramida is one of those places that everyone has visited at least once, usually looking for a very specific item to buy in a very specific shop — and considering that almost none of its shops has an online presence, one tends to hear about them purely by word of mouth. There's is nothing and everything to find here, it is a strange and sometimes overwhelming place full of shops you never knew existed. Ever since I started exploring this part of Belgrade and rediscovered Piramida, I've developed a habit of occasionally rummaging through its maze of streets, buildings and passageways in search of very specific things I wanted to buy at the time.
If you get a sensory overload, don't worry — just turn a corner, and you'll end up in a shaded cafe garden, where you can drink an Iced Nes coffee and recharge for some more obscure shopping adventures.
