The atmosphere at Reka, the river restaurant, reminds me of the some of the best scenes from the Mamma Mia movies, and in this case the word "restaurant" sounds too official to me, since I've always considered Reka as a place where good friends meet. I do not go there as much as I want -- only the people from Zemun have that privilege.
Reka is stylish, but at the same time natural; modern but with decades of tradition, holding the basics strongly: bruschetta, wine and spontaneous, sometimes dancing, waitresses.
They started as a typical fish restaurant on the Danube, but with time Reka became a cult place. Today, Reka has various guests: on the same evening, you will see a small wedding, a group of lady accountants celebrating company day, a family celebrating father’s birthday, diplomats with guests from abroad, a group of students... And everybody enjoys the relaxing atmosphere with live music every day.
If you are visiting Belgrade for more than a day, Reka is a must-see. You will save a lot of time, discovering the real Belgrade at one place, and I admit, since I am from the other side of the Sava and Danube, I am jealous of the inhabitants of Zemun, they can go to Reka whenever they feel sad or happy...
