Kebab is arguably the most beloved Berlin quick bite and post-night-out munch. Kebab joints are part of the city's landscape, and there are thousands of them throughout town. Open from the earliest hours in the morning until late at night, like a good friend, they are always there for you.
Discussions about where you can find the best one are recurrent and many lists have been made on the subject. In the end, everyone seems to have their own favourite spot that they swear by. Recently opened Zagros, is that place for me.
Located right in front of Görlitzer Station, on a street where competition for the best kebab was already fierce, with many reputable options available, Zagros somehow managed to outdo them and is now a favourite in the area.
They’re not doing anything radically new — it’s just a sandwich, after all — but it’s as good as it gets. They make their own bread fresh on the spot and fill it with a mix of fried vegetables, tasty sauces, and your choice of meat, halloumi cheese, or freshly made falafel. Then it's topped with feta, an actually nice salad, some spices, and a squeeze of lime. It simply cannot get any better! But then it does: there’s also free, unlimited tea offered, which is a nice touch. If there were such a thing as the Kebab Olympics, Zagros would definitely take home the gold medal.

What makes them even more special is their friendly nature. On most days, you might run into their owner Jonathan, the heart and soul of the café. SPRO would not shine the same way without his thoughtfulness.

They take the traditional döner in Berlin and transform it into a borderline art form. With flavorful sauces, meat, vegetables, spices, herbs, bread, and cheese, there's no wonder each bite tastes better than the last.

For €2, you can enjoy their falafel, shawarma, or kafta wrap. Their falafel wrap can be fully plant-based, too, just let them know, so they omit some sauces. They're better off as a snack because they're a bit on the smaller side.
